Q: Are You Legal?
A: Yes. We operate under the governing regulations set in place. All vehicle immobilisers require a license to clamp a vehicle.

Q: Are You Licensed?
A: All our on-site Vehicle Immobilisers are in possession of a full SIA license. They have all been vetted by the Criminal Records Bureau and all have been educated to BTEC level Two in Conflict management and Vehicle Immobilisation.

Q: What Law Says that Clamping and Ticketing can be carried out on Private Land?
A: In 1992 a landmark court case (Arthur v Anker) ruled that a vehicle may be penalised (i.e. immobilised / ticketed / removed) for parking on private land. The Court of Appeal laid down the rules that now govern the wheel clamping industry.  Insofar as there must be adequate warning notices erected to depict the 'laws of the land', these notices must be visible from a vehicle's parked positioning. In addition the Court ruled that the release fee must be 'reasonable' and that arrangements must be in place to enable a prompt release.

Nationwide Clamping's Vehicle Immobilisers Carry their SIA License at ALL Times.

It Is Illegal for any Land Owner to employ someone who isn't licensed to carry out wheel-clamping.

Q: How Much Will It Cost Me?
A: For Parking Protection such as Ticketing or Wheel-Clamping, Nationwide Clamping make an affordable annual charge of  Twenty-five pounds a sign. This price includes a maintenance guarantee which means that any signs which are damaged, removed or defaced will be replaced at no extra cost to the client. The number of signs that you need is dependent firstly, upon the size of your car park and secondly on the Law stating that all parked vehicles must be able to see a warning notice when parked.

Q: Are there any other costs to me?

A: No further costs to you once the signs are purchased. Warning notices will be erected by trained personnel. Nationwide Clamping will also provide permits, insurance and on-site operatives at no extra cost.

Q: Why do I have to pay for signs, some companies offer them for free?
A: Professional and Regulated companies will almost certainly charge for their services, this ensures that their operations are commercially viable and that they do not depend on clamping as a revenue. A company depending solely on wheel-clamping/ticketing for its income is susceptible to unreasonable and unsympathetic conduct when it comes to the clamping/ticketing of a vehicle.

Q: Are your 'Clampers' given targets?
A: No. Our on-site operatives are paid for the hours they put in rather than the number of clamps or tickets they put on.

Q: I signed up to Nationwide Clamping at a discounted rate, will that rate apply next year?
A: Whatever price was agreed at the start of our partnership is the price you will pay for the lifespan of our relationship.

Q: How will you know which vehicles shouldn't be parked?
A: Through close liaison with you, the client. It does depend upon the type of Warning Notice erected. For example, Nationwide Clamping will provide permits (permanent or visitor) for you to distribute as required. Alternatively, vehicles parked in Disabled Bays without displaying a valid badge, vehicles parked in No Stopping Areas, vehicles parked for longer than their Pay and Display Ticket allows. etc.

Q: How will you know who to clamp or ticket when the notices say 'Customers Only'?
A: It depends on the size of the site really. If you have only a few spaces then the on-site operatives will call into the premises beforehand to check the validity of the cars parked. Larger sites would be allocated a time limit, alternatively on large sites a Pay and Display System could be implemented.

Q: Can I have warning notices tailored specifically to meet my requirements?
A: If none of our standard warning notices seem relevant to your circumstances then, Yes tailor made signs can be produced.

Q: There is nowhere I can put the signs, what do we do now?
A: There is always a solution. Nationwide Clamping have not experienced a site yet where warning notices can't be erected.

Q: How Often will you patrol the site?
A: That depends on how frequently you want the site patrolling. We work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will continue patrolling a car park until your problems have ceased and the Warning Notices have become a deterrent in their own right.

Q: Can I just have the Signs?
A: Of course. Occasionally some sites only need to erect Nationwide Clamping Notices to put an end to unauthorised parking. However, it is likely that the Warning Notices will lose their deterrence after a period of time and you may need to adopt our service, temporarily, to once again ensure your car park is not abused.

Q: Who will deal with the drivers that have been clamped?
A: Nationwide Clamping will deal with the drivers who have been penalised. They will call our control room on the telephone number displayed to arrange their release. Our operative will remain on or near site whilst any vehicles are wheel-clamped.

Q: Do you have an Appeal or Complaints Procedure?
A: We do. Appeals can be made in writing or by e-mail. If a refund is required it will be made within 28 days.

Q: Do you cover car parks with only a couple of spaces?
A: Absolutely. If you have a problem, then we Can, and Will, Help.

Q: What Hours Do Nationwide Clamping cover?
A: Nationwide Clamping pride ourselves on working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Q: What size are the warning notices?
A: The Warning Notices are 16" x 24" (400 mm x 610 mm)

Q: How are the Warning Notices put up?
A: It depends on the surface they are being attached to. Through liaison with you the best method will be adopted, be it screws, masonry nails, adhesive or in the case of attaching to lamp posts zip ties.
